DWU 2017 Professional Training Pre-Conference

Set Up an Event in A Day!

Hosted by Elise “Lisi” Whitworth & Lab Assistant Bellamie Bachleda

Attendees will form teams, aka “event committees” of 3-4 women each, and work together on their laptops or tablets creating an event. It can be for a real or made-up event.

Image of women networking at an eventThe goal is to have fun while doing hands-on activities, learning some basic tech tools and tips, with seasoned web veterans on standby to help and answer questions.

Each activity will start with a brief demonstration of software apps, then guidelines will be provided for hands-on activities using the software: create an event site, set up a payment form, mailing list management, automate emails, and prepare for marketing.

Why an event challenge? Because an event is like a mini-business! It has every need that a business does; team communications, marketing, customers, sales and financial management. Every management professional from any department will benefit from learning tools applicable to their job and how they can pass data back and forth automatically with other departments.
